CEOs Seek End to HIV Travel Bans Worldwide

More than 40 chief executive officers from major companies have signed a pledge urging 45 countries to lift their travel restrictions on people with HIV, according to a UNAIDS statement. The CEOs represent not only pharmaceutical companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer and Merck, but also various other companies including The Coca-Cola Company, the National Basketball Association and Thomson Reuters. The CEOs oppose these restrictions because they are discriminatory and are bad for business in that companies cannot send their workers living with the virus overseas. The pledge is an initiative of UNAIDS, Levi Strauss & Co. and GBCHealth.
