Advocates from Housing Works, GMHC, ACRIA, ACT UP New York, VOCAL-NY and others from the region held a rally in Times Square on Sunday, December 1, which was World AIDS Day. The rally gathered health and social service providers, researchers and government representatives to gain support for ending the AIDS epidemic in the state, according to a joint statement. The coalition advocated for a commitment to rigorous testing, comprehensive prevention education, access to care and social justice actions. The goal is to implement a plan to end the AIDS epidemic in New York State by 2020.
