Michael Weinstein, president of AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), has written an open letter asking all HIV drug manufacturers to reduce the costs of their medications by 20 percent for cash-strapped AIDS Drug Assistance Programs (ADAPs), according to an AHF statement. Citing the combination of state budget cuts, increased demand and rising drug prices as the reasons that ADAPs can’t provide treatment to all the people who need it, Weinstein argues that his proposed cost reduction will mean more people will get treatment with the same amount of funding.
