If a person can beat addict to anything, I applaude them! I did it myself 15 years ago and it ain't easy! Kuddos
Erin thanks for your comment its really great that you are using your experience to help those still living in active addiction. We stay sober when we give what we were given.
I too, found recovery and help dealing with my positive diagnosis through the twelve steps. I am extremely active in service work through cocaine anonymous, although I was a slave to meth. I have done it all and am addicted to it all, I fit everywhere. Diagnosed at 21 days sober, vowed to stay sober. I have been sober for over 3 years now and am an Interventions Facilitator for Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS in Phoenix, AZ. Through sobriety, I have found new purpose and meaning in my life w/ HIV!

Thank you for giving so much attention to the need for an alternative to 12-step programs. For those of us who cannot accept ANY "higher power," the rigidity of it and the smugness of many AA'ers makes the whole thing worse for many of us. I just get up each day and ask myself whether using today is a good idea or a bad idea, then try to remind myself of the right answer. It's worked for a long time.
