I agree with the latter part of the article, but have to disagree with the first somewhat. When we conduct confidential HIV pre-counseling (before testing), it is important to know a person's risk factors so that they can create an action plan to change behaviors. Why talk about IV drug use if the person doesn't use drugs? Of course, someone shouldn't pry and we encourage everyone to get tested regularly, but talking about transmission is one way to prevent an HIV+ from spreading the virus.

I so agree. I really hate it when people try to find out the how I obtained the virus vs treatment options and discussions of the hear and now. I so agree with you. I remember going to a support group back in the early days.. there was someone there from the CDC to observe and ask how we think we contracted the virus. I felt so violated. I never went back to the group. Simply because I got it through sexual contact should be the only concern. I don't feel any better than anyone else.
