A report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) faults the adult film industry after an HIV scare in 2010 for not cooperating with public health authorities and for not providing information needed to conduct a quick and thorough investigation, the Los Angeles Times reports. The report found that two male porn actors were already HIV positive when they had sex with Derrick Burts, a porn actor whose HIV diagnosis in October caused filming across the industry to be suspended. Burts did use condoms in scenes of anal sex with men but did not use condoms during oral or vaginal sex. Since his public disclosure, Burts has advocated for expanded condom use on porn sets.
