The National Consumer Commission in South Africa will have an independent laboratory verify the reliability of Trust Condoms, BusinessDay reports. The commission received a complaint about a bursting condom, which can expose users to HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. The manufacturer said it would remove all condoms from that batch, and the company also sent samples to the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) for tests. SABS tested 150 condoms, but 800 are required to make a scientific judgment on the quality of the condom. Although SABS eventually tested 800 condoms and all passed the requirements, an independent lab also will test the batches in question.
