Does anyone deserve this disease process? Just because you put yourself out there, no matter what the occupation, doesn't mean you deserve to get it. I have also put myself out there, but as a nurse, and have cared for numerous people who don't disclose their disease process, which puts me at risk. No one deserves this disease for any reason. And no one deserves to be judged because they have it.
Let's not point the finger here...But we all know that getting HIV is not easy. You literally have to be doing something risky to get it. Repeated exposure etc...This guy is sad only for trying to garner our sympathy. We're all in the same boat. You made the choice to be a slut, now deal with the consequences. And what girlfriend would be okay with her BF doing gay porn and being a "rent-boy" Please...fess up already. You did some things you weren't proud of. We all did.
Like many of the posts on here said. I feel like this young man was infected long before he started in the porn industry. I was diagnosed POZ Feb. 2000. My doctor said that I was more than likely infected about 6 to 9 months prior. Most of the time it takes 6 months for a person to test positive. Realistically, there was no way he could have had a positive test after 4 months. It is good that he has come forward. But POZ should be ashamed for justifying his behaviour.

Sad story,A young man who was paid for sex. I do not believe that the porn industry is the sole responsibility. Too many questions left out. Was he tested before filming, with two other sti's he had been having risky sex, what types of risky sex did he have off the set? He is the only one that will know this, was he too high to remember or too ashamed to admit. You can have the types of sex he described without spreading the disease. Poz for 20+ yrs and have had many partners that are neg.
lilli, your claim is false. this young man has now stepped forward with a strident agenda that goes far beyond himself and his own choices. had he simply focused his efforts on creating conditions in the industry that would prevent his experience from being repeated, he would be far less controversial. as it is, he has hitched his wagon to the AHF, and their outlandish self-righteousness is legendary. anti-porn, anti-viagra, anti-sex...not people to take seriously at all. he's made his bed.
For shame, for shame , all the people trashing this guy. What is done is done. Every one of you except those exposed by transfusion or transplant have made an error in judgement whether you knew at the time or not, yet you condemn a person that admits it publicly and is making an effort to inform others so that they may be safe. Informing others so they may be safe is all that should be read into this story!

Condoms don't suck. They are the reason why many of us are still here and in some cases, still HIV-. They were an incredible gift because otherwise the only choices available would have been abstinence, monogamy or death. Even now, HIV is no picnic. Who in their right mind wants to be reliant on expensive drugs, some with dangerous side effects, for the rest of their lives? And for what, a few minutes of SLIGHTLY enhanced pleasure that will quickly be forgotten? Derrick, you are a hero.
