A recent article by The Associated Press (AP) claims the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria plans to reduce its budget transparency because reports of corruption and misspent money have curtailed donations. However, in a statement, the Global Fund denies this and asserts it will continue its current policy of transparency. Earlier this year, the Global Fund appointed an independent panel to assess and investigate fraud and misuse of its grants in several countries. Antifraud measures should be fully implemented by June.
