and bacteria. He must have ignored it or like many gay men at risk, believed that HIV was something that was unlikely to happen to him. Well, now this. The patient has FULL BLOWN AIDS. She has every right to be enraged and disgusted. THIS is why gay men must exercise greater personal responsibility because the stats say they ARE at much greater risk. What a tragedy.
This is why gay men are targeted when it comes to blood donations and yes, organ donation. It's not about stigmatization - it's about a form of discrimination based on statistics. This donor had unsafe gay sex before surgery. Yes, the hospital could have tested him beforehand. But you know what angers me? This donor KNEW that unsafe sex would put him at risk. When donors get tested 10 weeks in advance, they are told to protect themselves during that window (not just against STDs, but flu virus,
Accidents like that just don't happen, didn't they know the patients sexual history? They just don't care.

This just shows how a "negative" test can be noted during a window period. The donor was reportedly negative for HIV weeks before the transplant. I feel badly for all involved. We need a cure!
