The New York City Department of Sanitation is joining with Housing Works to create a nonprofit called Refashion NYC that will collect and distribute used clothing, The Epoch Times reports. Housing Works is a New York City–based group that fights the dual epidemics of AIDS and homelessness. The textile-recycling program will start with 12 collection bins in apartment buildings in Brooklyn with a goal of 50 collection bins in every borough within a year. The items collected will be sorted by Housing Works and sold at its stores.
