Not enough is being done to communicate accurate information about HIV vaccine trials to populations deemed most at risk and most likely to participate in future trials, according to a study from the University of Toronto. During nine focus groups made up of “high-risk” individuals, people expressed confusion and false information about a recent vaccine trial that had to be terminated. Participants also voiced distrust of doctors and medical researchers. The study findings will be presented at the 2011 AIDS Vaccine Conference in Bangkok. The study was published in the American Journal of Public Health.
