The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is offering up to $9.1 million in grants to address the housing needs of low-income people and families living with HIV/AIDS, according to a HUD statement. The funds are meant to stimulate the formation of community partnerships and to develop an Integrated HIV/AIDS Housing Plan (IHHP), a strategy to improve the delivery of services to people living with HIV. The deadline for new grant applications is August 2. The funds, which are being offered through the Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) program, are in addition to the $23 million HUD recently distributed to renew its support of 22 local programs in 18 states.
