I think he should still sue, go for everything you can. The school is wrong for not allowing you to attend. This kind of discrimination should be made an example of.
Good for him! They were clearly in the wrong, and deserve to be brought to their knees! He deserves compensation for his embarassment, and an example needs to be made of this kind of discrimination.
I'm glad this family will follow through on the law suit. As someone who's family has faced similar discrimination I can tell you that this kind of incident is tough to shake and has long-standing impact on future decisions about disclosure. I wish them well and want to pass on the message that despite the ignorance of society our positive children can rise above the stigma and pursue their dreams

Seriously? They offered a way for mediation, but you keep going since you want money! I caught HIV due to willingly smoking crack to emulate my partner, compromising my judgement even though I hated the drugs. I'm not going to sit here, choosing to have hurt feelings just because someone prejudged me. Go to the school and speak the truth; that would be much more effective. Black students in the 60's didn't just walk away.
