The Howard Brown Health Center in Chicago will pay $715,000 to multiple federal agencies to settle allegations it misused grant money for a major HIV/AIDS study, Crain's Chicago Business reports. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services investigated the clinic's handling of more than $3 million between 2005 and 2010. An internal audit showed that the health center used federal grant money to cover its operating expenses. Howard Brown will also repay $1.7 million to Northwestern University, which took over control of the HIV/AIDS study during the investigation.
