A donation made two years ago by the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) to the Irish government for HIV prevention has yet to be used, The Belfast Telegraph reports. EJAF gave €750,000, about $1 million, to aid a government-funded needle exchange program in Ireland. Difficulties with overcoming bureaucratic red tape and recruiting pharmacists to provide the needles have been blamed. EJAF has promised to withdraw the funds unless Irish Health Services makes progress soon.
