Nelson X. Figueroa, 45, profiled in POZ during his struggle for access to myelopathy treatment [see “Sweet Chariot,” POZ, February 2000], died of AIDS July 5. He had realized his dream of publishing a book of poems, Pigs, Parrots and Pain (available from ManhattanWriters@aol.com). “Nelson’s life was prolonged by his ability to write,” said his sister Marisol....Jackson Myars, 38, founder and director of the HIV positive choral group Positive Voices [see “Leather and Grace,” POZ, October 1996] died May 28 of AIDS. Greg Haller, an actor and director whose many contributions to the HIV community of western North Carolina included the AIDS fundraiser “Asheville on Broadway,” died of AIDS June 6 at age 47.
