Pet Project, an organization based in Broward, Florida, continues to help people with HIV/AIDS keep their pets by providing pet food, walking services, medical assistance and transportation to a vet, reports. Founded in 2002 in Broward, the group is based on similar programs in New York and San Francisco. It currently serves more than 800 clients throughout Broward and Miami-Dade. About 100 clients access a new temporary assistance program that supplies unemployed pet owners with food and other services for a three-month period.
