HIV cuts across ALL socioeconomic boundaries. It does not know the socioeconomic status of its host. A poor man had the same chance to read a $2.50 issue of The Advocate's article "You and your HIV status" published in the 1980s discussing the importance of regularly scheduled HIV testing as well as safe sex protocol as a rich man. Both men had the equivalent opportunity to decide to follow the advise or not.
