A spin-off of the iconic U.S. children’s television show Sesame Street is being produced in Nigeria, CNN reports. One of the main characters, Kami, is a five-year-old girl who is HIV positive. The show, called Sesame Square, is partially funded by PEPFAR and USAID. It will highlight issues central to the region, such as HIV/AIDS, malaria, gender inequality and religious differences. Kami was first introduced in 2002 on the South African version of the show, Takalani Sesame.
