Why can't any interaction between alcohol and meds just be published online or in the meds information leaflet ?? Actual there are ALREADY interaction sites google hiv druginteractions (I can't paste the web link on here ) It couuld be useful to update the main article with that link information ! There's not just alcohol to consider !

Alcohol is what got most people in to trouble to begin with. If having a drink or going home with a new sex partner is more important to you than you LIFE-SAVING pills, you got a lot more problems on your hands than HIV. Get some substance abuse help and take your medicine. Stop abusing your body and putting other people at risk. It's the least we can do.
I have a "life saver" on my key ring that my doctor gave my...It has one Atripla in it and if I think I will be out for more than one night I will have a duffle bag with clothes and toiletries etc. so I will pack more. No exceptions!!!
I'm glad this article came out, but I wish I'd been told this years ago. The majority of poz guys are still young gay men, who drink (duh!), so their docs should be telling them this. I've skipped because of a night of drinking (I'm a weekend warrior) thinking it would be toxic. No one told me otherwise. Thanks for posting this article!!! Get the word out to caregivers.
Nice to hear that adherence is key...none of us should be getting so blotto anymore that we "forget" anything! I've taken my meds and had my bevvies too and am still here after 3o years...and moderation is always key. Do these folks not carry a spare spot of meds at all times?! What's up with that? Glad somebody has put this in writing, 'cause frankly I'm tired of getting dirty looks from my friends because I've got a lovely blue pill in one hand and a gimlet in the other! Just kidding. ?
Whenever I know I will be drinking, I take my meds earlier that day so the combination don't upset my stomach but I never stop taking my meds due to alcohol. I work in the health field, therefore I know better. This folks need to be better educated by no other than their primary care physicians. People will do what they will do so why discourage it?

I got infected in 2009. I like to drink. I took my first Atripla with whisky. No side effects at all, ever. I still have undetectable viral load. I have regular unprotected sex with my boyfriend. He's still negative. I never miss a pill. I prefer having HIV to having other nasty things like cancer. As long as you take your meds when you're supposed to, life is normal. Period.
