My ex and I were our own study in practice. We had unprotected sex for seven of the nine years i had the virus. I started med 2 yrs after exposure, obtained and retained an undetectable viral load, increasing CD4s, plus I bottomed more than topped, but for those seven years he remained negative. We both got tested by our doctor every 3 months. For individuals like us, its treatment as treatment.

this debate is often ass-backwards...so often i hear enemies of Treatment As Prevention overstate medication toxicity. worse, they seem to assume HIV is some static disease process rather than the living, malevolent predator it really it. while medications are constantly improving in efficacy and diminishing in toxicity, the HIV virus itself is constantly trying to EAT those it infects, and digging deeply into our bodies to maintain a foothold. there's no wisdom in allowing HIV to fester within.
