I took the older version for years and developed chronic kidney disease, stage 3a. As soon as the new version became available (and on my insurance company’s formulary) I switched. After nearly a year on the newer version, my kidney function returned to normal and has stayed there ever since. If you’ve ever played the game Monopoly, you know how it always ends. The person holding the most monopolies wins all the money and everybody else goes bankrupt. Bernie Sanders is exactly right.

Let's get real here. TAF probably isn't much / any better than TDF. But it suits Gilead to claim that it is now that the TDF patent is coming to an end. Gilead will probably come up with a different version nearer to the time when the TAF patent is due to end. It will then claim that the newer version is better. It's all a sales and marketing pitch to maximize profits... It's easy to construct studies to 'prove' a 'new fomula' to be better.
