At a summit celebrating the 50th anniversary of the African Union (AU), more than 30 heads of state from the continent were asked to support the goal of raising $15 billion for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, according to a Global Fund statement. AU chairperson and Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn urged the leaders to make the once-every-three-years replenishment effort a priority.
