I suppose if this is true, then doing the math, I contracted HIV at 18 years old and am now 48 then I have a heart attack risk of a 78 year old male? Damn, I guess I had better start making my funeral arrangements! Just recently started a statin drug because of the elevated cholesterol levels caused by the Atripla but other than that--picture of health and have taken no other preventive measures such as cardio vegan diet, etc. Just goes to show that one study does not make things gospel. ;-)

This is news? I had my first bypass in 2000 at the age of 47. My 2nd one was in 2005. Fortunately, my heart did give me a "warning" and I had symptoms before having a heart attack. I've been on "the cocktail" since 1996, tested poz in 1985 with the test, but may have been infected in the late 70s. When I started meds my lipids skyrocketed. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to know the risks. Had rhabdomyolysis from Lipitor as well.

What about poor diet, smoking, was all of this taken into account ? It's not mentioned if it was.
