The point is that Prep gives a false sense of security to BB. People on sex sites are actually posting that others POZ status is "unimportant" to them because they're on Prep. They're versitile & anything goes, so they receive an HIV load as a bottom. Prep has a 92% chance of keeping HIV/AIDS from taking PERMANENT hold IN THEM, but HIV IS IN THEM. Day later, they top someone not on Prep without a condom and CAN PASS ON HIV that is in their system. Play smart, use Prep WITH condoms not instead.

Interesting that you suggest AHF and Gilead have mutual interests. Not surprised by the theory Weinstein has invested in Gilead, it would explain why he helps publicize the drug. What's my opinion on "PrEP Excess"? God forbid we say the obvious, but I think anyone who has checked into reality lately knows it's a drug for people who were never "at risk". Crystal ball says Gilead stops production after the patent ends, Truvada becomes an orphan drug and we never hear the word "PrEP" again.

Bob I do not know you or your last name, but I will call you Mr. Bob. Mr. Bob my understand is that AHF CEO has cash investments in Gilead and your question might be asked to him. I do not care if the CEO of AHF cost millions to keep his opinions in the mix, for at least He is standing up for something in the debate to state, it is not worth the money to invest in PREP to help the poor and end AIDS. Mr. Bob bean counters always focus on the money. What is your opinion on mass PREP excess?

There is plenty of data to support the efficacy of PReP. In my opinion as a professional HIV Treatment Educator PReP is an amazing way to further reduce the risk of transmitting HIV or being infected with HIV as long as it is used properly. The only way to ensure that it is taken properly is to have the money that is used to attack PReP be used to educate people rather than scare them...because it isn't about the money, right? Less infected people means less Patients...less profit...

If I would have had been able to take a pill in the morning or whenever I was not inebriated I might not be positive right now. As usual, it all comes down to sex- some are afraid that someone is having more fun than themselves. Stay out of my bedroom! As if we did not have the heterosexuals directing our sex lives, now it's gay people too, for God's sake! Guess what, the straight people have to make decisions about the other STI's too. If a pill can prevent even one HIV infection so be it.

Not sure how ya'll decided AHF wants more HIV infections because of greed. Maybe people aren't thinking, but as we know, "they're a business". If PrEP were going to be a widely administered drug, there'd be money to be made in its administration. AHF aren't saints, but if I had to choose between them and the shady cast of characters who've taken to advocating for PrEP, I'd run screaming to the AHF, regardless of my status. Last, its odd to quote AHF salaries. I wonder what Gilead pays?

I am in the USA and still don't really understand the complete picture of the morning before pill for HIV negative people. It is a cat and mouse game of sound bites of opinions on each side of the aisles. In the last 10 years, many Universities have come to the table of AIDS funding, where 30 protocol are on the table at University of Florida Care. I have a friend taking the morning before pill for treatment of HIV and must take it every other day for this pill has attacked his kidney Hum

being in Australia, I'm not up to speed with what's happening in the USA regarding PrEP and the politics of health care. What worries me around this issue is the other STIs and the possibility of their transmission between people, regardless of HIV sero-status, this is where it comes down to personal responsibility within the social contract that exists between any one individual and the rest of humanity. It's up to all of us, working together, to end this pandemic.
