wow this is really great news, i still don't understand why this news isn't plastered all over the place, have we become so complacent that we just don't see this as a real breakthrough. The hiv community should be all over this.

This article raises a few questions. How common is CMV in monkeys? Where the research monkeys naive to CMV or pre-exposed naturally prior to the study? Point...the mid-activation state of the CD8 cells might only be achieved if there was prior exposure to only the CMV. If the CMV/SIV vaccine was given to CMV naive monkey, then the protection that the researchers saw in 9 of their test monkeys might not happen at all and might explain why almost half of the monkeys died.

I'm wondering why no one is mentioning the finished Phase I trial in London, Ontario? My father is a graduate of the medical school there and one of the professors currently on staff has finished a Phase I clinical trial for an attenuated virus vaccine!
