Weight gain around my belly and waist is out of control for me.. good timing as I start to take on some dietary and activity changes... A question- Is it possible to have lipdystrophy and some weight gain around the belly?

My partner and I have been on the Nutri/System diet for almost 3 months, we have both lost weight, I have lost 35 pounds (and am still about 30 pounds over weight. My partner had much less to lose but he has reached his goal. We both feel satisfied and healthy following their diet, which basically follows what was said in the article, high fiber, fish oil, and whole grain products, with vegies and fruit to suppliment, it is worth looking into. They do have many HIV+ who post in thier blogs.

This looks pretty much like the Pritikin Diet for Runners - Even while training for two marathons (83 and 84)- running 8 to 15 miles 6 days out of 7 - it was not easy to reduce my weight (I did lose 30 lbs in 10 months) - and that was 25 years ago when I was in my early 40's .... and was most likely HIV+ but didn't know it yet ... now I am 50 pounds above my marathon weight .. wish me luck

4 yrs ago, I wasted 40lbs, & ate whatever to add wt, but w/Hagen Das & AIDS meds, my chol soared to 347. A dietician gave me a lo chol diet with lots of nuts, olive oil, etc. My partner (HIV-)ate the same-he 3 meals-me 6/day & cut out sugar & white flour. After 1 mo, w/chol Rx, too, my HDL normalized, & he had unexpectedly dropped 15 lbs--now, almost 50 & the "diet" is a way of life. I gained back a needed 25 & stablized. Forget cals, prots, carbs--just eat anything no/lo chol-it's amazing!
