The ban on the donation of blood by men who have sex with men in France is due to be lifted in the coming months, Pink News reports. Minister of Health and Social Affairs Marisol Touraine announced the move as she gave blood on World Blood Donation Day. The Department of Health implemented a one-year deferral period instead, so that men who have had sex with men in the last 12 months may still not donate blood. The lifetime blood donation ban on men who had ever had sex with a man was lifted for England, Wales and Scotland in 2011.
