Barb Cardell and the women in the Positive Women's Network are inspirational. I was at this conference after only meeting a handful of HIV positive women in 13 years it was amazing! I agree with Barb. Some of the stigma come from media. All the movies on TV show the 80s look of HIV like just injecting drug users or gay men or prostitutes. I feel there is a stigma which keeps women from even considering they are at risk. It really could happen to ANYONE! When testing I ask "Have you ever had sex?

Way to go Barb. I'm so inspired everytime I read an article where someone shares their story. It is these story that provide comfort, support and hope to others. You erase the stigma when you disclose. I know for some that is not always possible but for those brave souls who step up and speak out it is so rewarding and empowering. I'm proud of you, I hope I get to see you again this year.
