It's shocking to think that these lawsuits are based on the fact that Gilead withheld a known safer drug from clinical trials in an effort to maximize their profit from an existing patient. How can anyone believe this is okay? Is this article meant to imply that a person's health and well-being is secondary to the financial gains of big pharma? That's ridiculous! How can someone justify fatal kidney disease as being an acceptable consequence of a malicious attempt at earning revenue?
Unbelievable. As usual, Poz went and advocated for PrEP, completely ignoring the VERY REAL and abusive facts that have inspired these lawsuits. This magazine doesn’t care about PLHIV and we should all know that by now. It’s still shocking to see how distant it can be though.
I commend everyone else who has posted a comment! As another one of the group it saddens me to read the idiotic comments on Instagram for the lawsuit ads! I hope that they take them off soon. Everyone’s case is their own case and they are entitled to whatever compensation they get for this. My bones hurt so bad and I have lost 2 inches in the last year. I feel like Wolverine when the knives come out of him! It’s so bad that even the Fentanyl 100 mcg, and the oxy 30mg, every 6 hours doesn’t help!
I am one of those people who have been affected by this and it is really painful and it’s very hard emotionally. I might have to have a kidney transplant soon, but the bone pain is excruciating. It’s upsetting that you don’t talk about that in your article. Along with everything else that the medications have caused over the past 30 plus years, heart failure along with the kidney and liver failure. I have also had Stage 4 Anal Cancer, and my intestines are burned up from it, more surgery! Please!
I've experienced bone density loss, L 3-4, L 4-5 & S1 & peripherally in my humerus & tibia. The loss in the lower spine has been quite dramatic & has required surgery to "re-calibrate" the vertebrae. Small fall on my shoulder SHATTERED my humerus, requiring a Titanium prosthesis & 2 years of PT to have a decent range of motion. I've also had diminished kidney capacity and routinely have lethiase accumulation...3 stones and counting over the last 4 years. That said & 35 yrs +, these meds = life.
I was on Truvada for years in the mid 2000s - I was taken off this drug as it was degrading my kidney function and I now suffer from stage 3 renal disease that is closely monitored by my renal specialist here in NC I was living in CA during my years on Truvada and always wondered why all of a sudden it was converted to a prophylactic treatment shortly after I was taken off it.
I wonder what Gilead is paying the writers of this article to deflect its culpability for selling a drug that has crippled and sickened hundreds if not thousands of people living with HIV

What is wrong with people? What would be the alternative? I’m sorry if those who have awful sad effects are dealing with them, but wouldn’t you be dead otherwise? I have bone loss and minor kidney loss, but I’m alive and dealing with life better instead of dying a decade or two ago! People are selfish and not grateful. I am glad to have access to these meds. Even with the side effects. There was a time when people were screaming for meds and something to be done to stop people from dying of aids
