More than 500 groups and individuals from nearly 60 countries have endorsed a call to action seeking answers on the safety of sexual lubricants for vaginal and anal sex, according to a statement by International Rectal Microbicide Advocates (IRMA), which launched the action. Advocates assert that currently there is insufficient data on the topic, which raises safety concerns. The “Global Call to Action on Lubricant Safety” has the endorsement of both sexual health and HIV prevention advocates. Several lubricant makers have also endorsed the action.
