Ok,I think the study is misleading in some since and it is probably more refection of men period. Most men have no clue about these concept of these illness and truly afraid to be honest and open with their healthcare provider. I am one of them, due to the gossip and laughter concerning some of the providers or lack of knowledge in new treatments and testing for men of all races for it is a pride and privacy issues, where HIPPA doesn't really protect one's heart. That is my experience.

Odd, guess it's about location. Had Cancer 6 years ago found after "wart" removal. Biopsy indicated more surgery needed. Had a perirectal specialist, plastic surgeon & oncologist in surgical suite to ensure no cancer or precancerous tissue left behind. Plastic surgeon preformed a procedure to ensure minimal scaring. Have seen oncologist and specialist twice a year since with testing each time. Cancer fee as of 07/23/14. Kaiser will work at keeping you alive if you will.

If you belong to the VA Health Care Network, from personal experience, you will get the very best care available. If you are a veteran and are HIV+, you're committing suicide by not using the VA.

A friend at age 62 was diagnosed with very early stage colorectal cancer. After bowel surgery he underwent 2 different sessions of chemo therapy. He had been HIV for 2 decades but was an elite progressor who never had to take medications and had no viral load. Yet after his last treatments and being free of the cancer he became very ill with PCP twice and then died. I do believe the chemotherapy killed him, not the HIV which his cells would not transport. The chemo had destroyed his immunity

I really think this has to do with being treated as less than by some medical personnel.

Most gay men are irresponsible about their health and treatment. I had lymphoma in 2004 with a cd4 count of 27..it was grueling dealing with both but i did it..looking at me today u would think i was never sick a day in my life...i am physically fit and I DONT constantly bombard my body with all sorts of STD's. That was 10 years ago..every time i see my oncologist I thank him and my HIV spec for the extra 10 years...I will be 68 this year and fit as a fiddle..im done with irrespon sex.
