It is difficult, maybe impossible, to understand history as it is happening. I am in my 50's now, and witnessed losses in my family, among friends, and in the world at large. It took the openness and bravery of people like Magic Johnson and Ryan White to legitimize, for some, the suffering of the plague's earlier victims. We are still debating equality in this country, and still trying to get it right. Brava to Cecilia Aldarondo for telling this story!

Are you open to opposing viewpoints? The 'Christian' response has been perverted. I do not sit in judgment over the LGBT community, but love my gay brothers and sisters. Homosexuality is not too great a sin for my God to handle, but people get in the way. It is contrary to the design of a man and a woman, complementing one another. It's easy to get distracted by other issues, but this is at the core of the loving, true argument. I urge you to let this be published and want to discuss further.

Thanks for touching this often forgotten subject.I can totally relate to it as my bf passed last year.Don't know how i go on dont want to really.His family did the same thing only that i am the one who buried him they being to shame.Did the dirt shoveling and all.Now im lonely more depressed without his presence i feel empty..thanks again for the topic mention
