unfortunately, as small as the cases may be, sometimes self-inflicted HIV infection isn't always a myth. After founding an NGO support group for youth living with HIV, we did a small survey of our members. We did, indeed, find some members had or had attempted to self infict. Lack of supports for youth living on the streets was one cause. So as much as saying it isn't true can be seen as blaming the vulnerable, denying it happens is just as much blaming the vulnerble.
