I am a little confused at a politician and probably a lawyer putting the ethical question of lying on the table. The truth be told a lot of us HIV people have gone to many lengths in the past to get insurance companies' contracts and to make fake marriages in the military to get treatment to stay alive, is it, a lie or a truth of doing what one's needs to do to live or just part of the American Dream in Business.Truly most of our economic problems at this time are because of white collar lies

As I approach my 60th birthday, being born black and gay, living through the civil rights struggle hoping when I graduated from high school I wouldn't get drafted and sent to Vietnam like most poor minorities, now I struggle with h.i.v,appreciating what white gay males did for in the act up movement,I said all this to emphasize the struggle isn't over, young gays will have to take up the fight after we are gone, getting to comfortable is the problem in the black community, please vote in 2014 election

Now, besides living with a chronic condition we get to listen to someone throw the equivalent of a childish temper tantrum based on personal interpretations. Goodie. Doesn't he and other like him ever get tired of beating a dead horse? Maybe his party needs to focus on healthcare, jobs or a livable wage... you know, those things that get avoided by a mile otherwise.

Whoever Agema is or wants to be, His hate rings through. I have to be honest as an POZ man, that is learning to accept being gay, these comments hurt. They made me cry. I dont even live in MI. But it is another example of the hatred that makes me hate the fact I am gay. He is in an elected office. He is entitled to his opinion. But is he allowed to hurt and "BULLY" others with his comments. An article from the same paper the next day talks about the backlash. This gives me some hope.

What struck me was that he didn't see the big picture...People really want/need health care and will sometimes go to extraordinary lengths to get it. People should not have to get married to find affordable health care. That is the bigger issue he seems to have missed.

Well, I did have some one who was ill on my insurance as a domestic partner- I had to lie. It was not as if he was getting healthcare for free- WE had to PAY for it. We tried to get Medicaid with no luck-they kept denying him, until 4 wks before his death. If I can help a loved one out, I will. Dave Agema- Lord forbid you ever have to make a decision like that for someone you care about.

while Mr. Agema has his totally unfounded beliefs, I also believe that bigots shouldn't hold any kind of puclic office, but they do. Bob

First of all, the bible was COPIED from the same story that all the other religions use...with a few differences thrown in to make it more believable to people who live their life based on a lie. Those who believe in fairy tales are stupid.
