Happily, not only David Munar, but the CDC and most human rights and public health professionals also support voluntary HIV testing. This is not "conservative," this is a sensible, evidence-based approach to encouraging ongoing engagement with the health care system, which in turn is essential to controlling and ending HIV/AIDS. David is a hard-working, principled activist, and AFC and the rest of us are lucky to have him anywhere in this movement.

Sadly, Mr. Munar is an advocate of voluntary testing. This conservative approach continues to foster discrimination and disease prevalence. On the national celebrity scene he represents as a token to erradicating HIV/AIDS. This appointment disappoints those who actually care about changing the paradigm.
