Which is why it's unforgivable that doctors don't test older people because they don't fit the profile. I was 69 when I was finally diagnosed, with CD4 count below 200. Obviously, I'd been positive for some time and, although sick, no doctor ever thought to test me (nor did I). Am now on treatment and my numbers make me "undetectable." Although, based on this article, the odds of long life and apparently not too good.
