I thought we would know by the end of July whether or not Egrifta would be made available to desperate people like myself! PLEASE let us know something ASAP! This waiting is driving me crazy! I'd gladly spend an hour, each day for the rest of my life, injecting it into my stomach. Rather than to spend eternity in isolation and misery. Please HURRY!
Having been the butt of jokes etc due to the shape of my body which is caused by lipodystrophy, I am extremely excited about this new drug which if it gets the full go ahead will bring much needed hope to all who suffer from this condition, In the early days of treatment it was not known what these new HIV drugs would do to our bodies but at least they are attempting to fix a nasty wrong lets hope that more and more anti Lipodystrophy durgs become available, thanks to all who understand HIV/AIDS
I have been waiting for something like this for too long. It is horrible having people think that you are some kind of pig when I actually eat very modistly and can't execise because of back injuries. Please hurry!
I was in a clinical trial for this medication. I find it absolutely amazing that most articles about the drug do not mention that the patient needs to mix up the medication in vials, then shoot themselves in the stomach with a needle on a daily basis! (The minute there was a drug to take the place of Fuzeon, everyone changed to it) For me, losing 17% of my lipo stomach is not worth a lifetime of daily injections and hours of lost time. It's a whole lot easier to learn how to dress better.
I am thrilled with this green light for this agent. However, the big problem will be with my fellow clinicians who will not bother to do the prior approval paperwork it is sure to require. I am one of two clinicians on Cape that scripts Serostim because of this barrier. Being poz myself I understand the wasting issue from both ends of the stethoscope. I hope I am wrong.
I participated in the clinical study of this drug for 1 year & it worked really well on the belly....I can't wait until this is available for presciption. Diring the study, I was monitored for glucose & cardio risks with no problems.
This is such promising news! I have been complaining to my physician for at least a decade to prescribe diet pills to me. He will not. I have had no other choice but to get the diet pills on the street which is a huge expense, not to mention the risks involved...Please make something available to those of us who suffer from this obvious external sign of HIV. I would gladly trade glucose abnormalities and the risk of cardiovascular disease for this, any day...
James
