This tampon with hooks will cause the penis to bleed and increase the chancs of spreading HIV. What about sodomy or the women who forgets to remone te used tampon and has sex with the husband or boyfriend. They say it is free now but who will pay for this at a cost of $2.00 We need to understand what is cauing the increase in rapes first then seek ideas to reduce the horrible act. I am not condonimg this violent act.
To name a contraption a Anti-Rape-Condom is crazy. We know that rape isn't about the sexual act; it is an act of violence and domineering. Callinfg a female condom an anti rape is allowing persons to rape women usinf a condon. This instument is archaic and barbarica as the action of a rapist. We might as well castrate men and sterilize women wo rape too. This is the wring approch to deal with rapist.
Wonderful! I listened to a woman from Africa speaking about training the young girls to insert female condoms daily so that IF they are raped, at least HIV isn't transmitted. Love the teeth idea - it gets the perp where it hurts.
I agree with stark, any female in this sad world, no matter the age, from infant to grave, is at risk of sexual assault. The fact of having a vagina reminds me of my vulnerability all too often. Issues of "Biological inequity" (false perception of lesser value due to gender)& "Sexual Dimorphism" (the evolution of genitals- receptive vs. penetrative) will be impossible to resolve. Some women in Africa insert razor blades wrapped in cotton and/or cloth. How is this worse?

That I personally know two average middle class people who's drinks have been spiked with GHB is what reminds me that I'm vulnerable.
Chances are, most women who need to wear this condom area already reminded that they are vulnerable on a daily basis, so that point is moot. I second the calls for addressing the reasons why rape occurs--power, domination, sexism.
Many of you responders do not COMPREHEND the article. Once your penis enters the condom, when you remove your penis the condom is on to stay. The teeth keep it there to be removed by a physician. If you cut it off with scissors, you still have a damaged penis. As a man who had both his mother and daughter raped in AMERICA, I would encourage any woman to wear one. Any guy who gets trapped by this devise is not going to be worrying about beating on the woman, damage control will be his concern!
