My insurance covers the cost of my pain meds. It does not cover the costs of non-drug therapies such as physical therapy, yoga, and acupuncture. Besides being expensive and not terribly accessible, the alternative therapies take a lot of time out of a person's schedule and take a lot of time to work, if they do. Sorry, but I do not have the time, energy, or health to go without pain meds while I explore these alternatives, even if they do help people.

This type of treatment would be awesome but who is going to pay for it? Being on disability I can’t afford a yoga class or acupuncture and insurance will not pay for it. I had acupuncture done for a few years and it worked great for my muscle pain and neuropathy but I couldn’t afford to continue it. I don’t understand why insurance companies don’t get with the program and pay for homeopathic and natural type treatments especially for pain when it’s been proven to work.
