True stewardship of resources would emphasize a cure, allowing 1.2 million Americans to live without toxic, overpriced drugs, which are frequently subsidized by the public. When I first read a summary of this report, it was implied that a cure was a high priority. Instead, it's smashed together with "new therapies", which is code for "even more expensive drugs with slightly fewer side effects". We want a cure, Dr. Collins. Now is the time. It's feasible, needed and in demand.
