Giving out crack pipes does NOT prevent the spread of HIV. People do what they do to get Crack, not the pipes. So try giving out crack, that's more effective!
I disagree with this program completly. As an ex user with an extensive history, I don't know too many people that will allow someone wiht an open sore to touch their pipe. Foe real now, how much wasteing of money are we going to allow. I pray this program is investigated further, to see the results.
Dear Readers, As x-users of practically everything know to man, my wife & I concur 'bout this subject! We both haven't used anything in 'bout 5 years;[Thank God]! Free crack-pipes! We understand the concept, but believe its a very bad idea! We are both long-term survivers, and both had worked in the same clinic!
This is crazy...to hand out crack pipes is just going to an all time low!!! I can understand need;e exchange....not crack pipes...this just my opinion this is just another way to promote drug use!!!
I believe that certain drugs need to be omitted from a persons life to control HIV.How are you going to recieve treatment if a person is running around looking for drugs?DUMB IDEA!!!!!
Just not a good ideal. Perhaps that is money that should be diverted to recovery programs for people with HIV. Sorry but I even had qualms about needle exchange but did change my mind once I realized how easily HIV spread thru needles. Living with HIV 20 years and knowing how the disease is spread I do not think this is a good preventative measure. Perhaps someone or studies will prove me wrong but for now I would vote no.
WHAT?, are these people crazy?. There is no studies that show HIV can be transmitted via saliva without open or bleeding sores. This group is helping spread fear among people once again on how HIV is transmitted. One more comment, if a crack head can save the 5 or 10 dollars on a free crack pipe they will just buy more crack with the saving there by making drug use rise and make the sale of drugs seem more inviting to the person who wants a quick buck. This program should be closed down NOW.

i agree with Jennifer Anywhere. It would follow more of the wisdom of Harm Reduction.
