Gregory Packaging Inc., which makes and distributes juice products under the trade name Suncup, will pay $125,000 to settle a lawsuit regarding firing an employee for having HIV, according to a press release by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), which brought the lawsuit.

The employee worked at the company’s Newnan, Georgia, site as a machine operator in the packaging department. According to the lawsuit, the employee performed his job well and was able to do it in a safe manner; nonetheless, Gregory Packaging fired him after learning about his HIV status.

The Americans with Disabilities Act prohibits such activity, so the EEOC filed suit in September 2014 after trying to reach a pre-litigation settlement.

Gregory Packaging is based in Morristown, New Jersey, and has additional facilities in Arizona.
