Well, quite simply the series was unpalatable. It may have reflected real gay life, but it was TOO real. I am sure even the most openminded audiences were aghast at the main character giving himself an enema. The lead characters were ditzy airheads. The show only lasted 30 minutes often would focus the whole episode on boring conversations. This show was NO QAF I can assure you. The show as just bad, pure and simple...that is why it was cancelled.

I may be putting myself out there on a very skinny limb, but personally I can't say I will miss the show. I never felt, HIV character or not, that I, along with millions like me. were represented. I'm not a part of the "gay scene". And as time goes, I find myself increasingly at odds with much of the gay community. Too much emphasis on finding the right husband, or wearing the latest D&G, or Prada bauble. In all honesty I only saw a few episodes, that enough to let me know this was not for me.

The show Queer as Folk had an HIV positive character. His name was Ben. He was a professor who had a relationship with the hiv negative character Michael.
