This is a big deal. A friend who has no family other than his partner was admitted to ICU by emergency 2 weeks ago. NO ONE was allowed to visit him because they were not FAMILY. I was very afraid he would give up and lose the fight without the support of friends and loved ones. His partner and another friend had to claim they were his brother and sister to see him. I made 2 trips to see him and was not allowed.
