43 patients have been helped. But at least 43,000 more have died of AIDS while researchers publish yet another paper letting us know that they could save us but ??????

Trolling? I think wishing was pointing out the obvious. This has always been a disease that didn't need to happen. To think Big Pharma is going to let us kill the goose that lays its golden eggs without a fight is nothing short of willfulll ignorance. We need to always be aware of the political and social context that inhibit a cure. They're far stronger than the technological inhibitions.

"Wishing"...what a strange, strange comment. Are you trolling? Very odd!

I read this and got so excited and wanted to participate until I realized what a loss of a lot of profits, jobs, magazines, tv shows, everything could possibly be affected to help those infected. To give up millions to help millions I just can't see it happening but I have read of a study similar to this before. Bless those lucky 43 patients. I just don't think they will let this fly, it just hurts to him about it.

Dave A, BillyC, Brian and everyone else who agrees that we need to push for a cure to happen... the Aids Policy Project is doing some amazing work including calling on NIH director Francis Collins to increase funding for HIV cure-research. Right now only 3% of HIV research funds go to researching a cure, but the NIH director has the power to change that. Everyone who is interested should get more info at www.aidspolicyproject.org

Strip the ccr5 receptor and we can prevent HIV from entering the cd4 cell. I am living proof, but this happened naturally to me. I have been exposed to HIV too many times to count and still text negative. I also seem to get less â??common coldsâ?, if I get sick more than once every couple of years, itâ??s a lot for me. Ditch all the meds and go for the gene modification. I believe there is more benefits than the researchers realize.

The meds are destroying my kidneys and I am now at high risk of heart disease also connected with HART meds side effects. PLEASE!!!! Let me participate in this trial. I have nothing to lose, and WE ALL stand to gain from those willing to take part in human clinical trials. HART is not a cure, it only buys more time... A life without fear or stigma would be a dream come true. Let's stand up and make it a reality.
