Would disagree with you John. It is (partly) more likely due to the lack of qualified HIV providers in those areas. Effective treatment for this illness can only be provided by individuals who have extensive training and experience in this area.

No, Kristine, it has more to do with hatred. People in Mississippi, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Alabama, Tennessee and Wyoming would truly rather see people die than provide adequate care. Remember the Republican presidential primary debates where they boo-ed the gay soldier in Iraq, cheered letting the uninsured die and demanded more executions?

State Medicaid is so different from north/south etc.nebraska takes pretty good care of the poor.washington state has cut back a lot but most union heavy states are broke and that is the difference

I guessing this reflects stigma. Some people in low prevalence/ rural areas would truly rather die than seek out care.
