I wonder if this study was limited to monogamous partners or included partners in 'open' relationships? I have no problems discontinuing condom use in a monogamous relationship with another poz partner, and if this study was based on monogamous partners, then the results make sense. I think there has to be a middle ground for couples with HIV to be able to safely discontinue using condoms.

My fear is this kind of single study findings encourage people not to use condoms anymore which could protect them not just from superinfection but also from other STIs some of which as incurable as HIV itself. Even without such ideas just the introduction of HAART and it's good results have disinhibited people from having protected sex, and as a result we are wittnessing massive epidemics of syphilis and gonorrhea in all major cities.
