I was diagnosed in 1984. I'm now 54 and going strong; viral load, that is. I'm enjoying a life undetectible and a CD4 count in the 1,200's. The only downside is, I developed Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM) from the AZT I was on those 27 some odd years ago. Now, I have the body and strength of a 70+ year old man and getting weaker and weaker with time. How about a cure for that too?
AS A 55 YR OLD MALE THAT HAS HIV SINCE 79 DIAGNOSED IN 83 IT DOES NOT GIVE MUCH DATA.. A CHART OF LIFE EXPENTANCY TIME PLOTTED AGAINS T CELL COUNT AND VIRAL LOAD WITH PERCENTAGE OF DEATHS IN ANY YR WOULD BE MUCH MORE HELPFUL...
Does anyone know how these compute for a child born in 1996??
Wow.....I still say someone needs to be studying me. I was 44 in 1996, had had HIV since the late 70's, am turning 60 soon. I still have cd4's of 800-900, go to the gym daily, live a very full life and show no real signs (touch wood) of succumbing any time soon! That sort of blows the actuarials out of the water!
I was diagnosed 2/14/1993. At that time, my CD3 count was below 40, and that was about all I was told (how I was diagnosed is a long, convoluted story, not enough room here to tell). Anyhow, am 58 now, on Viramune and Combivir 2x day. Been on them for over 10 years. Was on the Crix "diet", but after the "sludge" in 1999 I changed drugs. Still severe neuropathy in legs and feet, and a bit of fat underneath my stomach (I can't even pinch an inch). At 6'5", 195, I guess I'm in decent shape.
